Man United prepared to sell £30m flop in January to make room for Arsenal’s Mesut Ozil

Manchester United look set to step up their interest in Arsenal star playmaker Mesut Ozil.

Ozil could be on his way out of the Emirates as early as January after failing to pen a new Arsenal deal. The 29-year-old has entered the final six months of his contract and could even end up leaving the Gunners for free next summer.

According to the Mirror, Man United first need to make room for the Germany international before they can sign such a costly free agent.

Per the source, Henrikh Mkhitaryan has fallen out of favour with United boss Jose Mourinho and could be the one to go in order to make room for Ozil.

The Portuguese has already publicly criticised of Mkhitaryan and accusing him of “disappearing” in games.

Mkhitaryan joined Man United from Borussia Dortmund for a hefty £30 million back in Summer 2016.

Jose Mourinho worked alongside Mesut Ozil at Real Madrid during his three years at Real Madrid. The pair won the La Liga together in Spain and Jose – at the time – described Ozil as the best Number 10 in the world.
