Man United set for transfer talks with Turkish club over sale of star defender, Serie A giants also interested

Besiktas have set their sights on Manchester United’s versatile defender Matteo Darmian.

The Black Eagles are expected to make major changes to their squad following a turbulent 12 months.

Despite impressing in the UEFA Champions League and reaching the Last 16, Besiktas ended up finishing the Turkish Super Lig in fourth spot.

Senol Gunes’ side subsequently missed out on playing Champions League football this season.

According to the daily Turkish newspaper Takvim, Besiktas officials will hold talks with Manchester United in the coming days.

Per the source, the Black Eagles feel they can sign Darmian on a permanent deal this summer as the Italy international has under a year remaining on his contract.

However, Besiktas are likely to face major competition in the race to sign Darmian.

Meanwhile, SkySports has linked the 28-year-old with a move to Serie A giants Inter Milan, Juventus and Napoli this summer.

Darmian made just 17 appearances for Manchester United in all competitions last season.
