Manchester United have been struggling to get Marouane Fellaini to sign a new contract.

The Belgium international will be a free agent at the end of the season unless he extends his current deal.

Turkish-Football have reported Besiktas interest in the 30-year-old midfielder.

The Black Eagles have held talks with his representatives over an end of season move.

The Istanbul giants have not however, been the only side keen on adding Fellaini to their ranks.

The Sabah newspaper in Turkey are now claiming that Besiktas are favorites to sign the United star.

Per the source, Fellaini has rejected United’s offer.

Besiktas meanwhile are preparing to spend big this summer as they will no longer be under investigation from Financial Fair Play.

The Belgium of Moroccan international is reported to be keen on the idea of playing in Turkey.

The reigning Super Lig champions would be able to offer lucrative terms and assurances of first-team football.

Besiktas plan to strengthen their squad over the summer as part of their campaign to build the brand name abroad.

Fellaini is currently out of action after undergoing a knee operation. The Belgium international is expected to miss the next 6-8 weeks on the sidelines.

United boss Jose Mourinho wants Fellaini to stay on but has admitted he cannot rule out an Old Trafford exit.

Mourinho said in January: “I’m happy with his contribution, he is being a great professional for us.

“I know he wants to stay with us, he knows I want him and the club wants him but there is a paper to sign and you only sign it when you are happy with what is in the paper so let’s see what happens.”
