Man United suffer transfer blow as £21.7m Brazilian ace strikes deal with Turkish league champions

Turkish league champions Besiktas have reached an agreement with Benfica to loan Anderson Talisca for an additional season.

A Bola report that Besiktas will pay a £2.17m million [€2.5m] fee for the temporary move.

Per-the-source, the Black Eagles will have paid a total of £4.34 million [€5m] over the course of the two-year loan.

Benfica will recoup the £3.5 million [€4m] invested in Talisca after signing the attacking midfielder from Bahia.

Under the current agreement the £4.34 million will be deducted from his £21.7 million [€25m] release clause at the end of the season.

Therefore Besiktas would be able to sign Talisca for £17.4 million [€20m] at the end of the season on a permanent deal.

Manchester United were also closely linked with a move for Talisca over recent months.

Turkish newspaper Hurriyet reported last month that United boss Jose Mourinho had his scouts monitor on Talisca over the course of the season.

Per the source, Mourinho was keen on activating Talisca’s release clause this summer.

Talisca does however, still have the same problem. Under the current Home Office regulations he would not be entitled to a work permit.

Permit system for non-EU players

According to the FA: Required % of international matches over previous 24 months is determined by the player’s National Association’s official FIFA ranking:

FIFA 1-10: 30% and above
FIFA 11-20: 45% and above
FIFA 21-30: 60% and above
FIFA 31-50: 75% and above

Reference period reduced to 12 months for those players aged 21 or under at time of application

Brazil are in the FIFA top 10 but the 23-year-old has not played 30 percent of games for his country over the past 24 months.

The only way Talisca would be granted a work permit is if the FA make an exception on the basis that he is a ‘exceptional talent’ as they did when Arsenal signed Gabriel from Villarreal.

United would be able to activate his release clause next season but for the full £21.7 million.

Talisca will have just 12 months remaining on his Benfica contract next season.

The 23-year-old was in superb form for Besiktas this season scoring 17 times and providing six assists in all competitions.

The Brazilian played a key role in Besiktas lifting the league title this season.

Talisca has been part of a championship winning side for the past three seasons and already has a wealth of Champions League experience behind him.
