Man United surge ahead in race to sign £42m Arsenal star as bookmaker slash odds
British bookmakers have slashed the odds on Arsenal star playmaker Mesut Ozil joining Manchester United.
Ladbrokes have slashed odds of Ozil joining Man United this summer from 4/1 to 6/4.
Ozil’s previous club Real Madrid are also in the race at odds of 4/1, while Barcelona sit at 10/1.
The news will be cause a stir amid Arsenal fans after they watching Robin van Persie join Man United back in 2012.
The Netherlands international had a year remaining on his contract which lead to the Gunners accepting a bid from their rivals.

Ozil will also have just a year remaining on his deal with Arsenal at the end of the season. If the Gunners are unable to strike a new deal with the World Cup winner, they may be forced into selling him.
Man United boss Jose Mourinho previously managed Ozil during his spell at Real Madrid. The Mirror states that Mourinho is keen to add Ozil to his squad this summer.
Ozil joined Ozil from Real Madrid for a club record £42 million in Spetember 2013 (BBC).
