Man United transfer news: Mourinho given green light for £35m Mesut Ozil bid in January – yet to sign new Arsenal deal

Arsenal star playmaker Mesut Ozil’s long-term future at the north London based club is still cast in doubt.

The 29-year-old has failed to pen a new deal with the Gunners and could end up leaving the club for free this summer.

According to The Mirror, Manchester United are preparing to table an offer to sign Mesut Ozil from Arsenal this month.

Per the source, Jose Mourinho is pushing for the deal to go ahead and the Red Devils have set aside £35 million to sign Ozil this month.

The Mirror goes on to state that Man United chiefs fear they could lose Ozil to Paris Saint Germain or Bayern Munich if they wait until the summer.

However, Arsenal are understood to be reluctant to offload their star playmaker in January, especially to their bitter rivals.

Ozil previously played under Jose Mourinho during his spell at Real Madrid.

Arsenal are back in action in Wednesday night when they take on Chelsea in the Carabao club.
