Borussia Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke has said that ‘Hummels, Mkhitaryan & Gündoğan could leave the club – but not at the same time.
Watzke has revealed that there is a chance Mats Hummels, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Ilkay Gundogan will leave the Bundesliga club, but stated they will not all be sold at once.
Gündoğan has been linked with a move to Liverpool since the appointment of Jurgen Klopp as manager.
Dortmund rejected an approach from Liverpool’s rivals Manchester United earlier on in the season according to the German newspaper Express.
“I can rule out that three players of their calibre will all leave at once,” Watzke told Bild (via Goal).
“It should be our goal to bring in a player of the same level if someone leaves us on a free transfer in 2017. We will make that happen.”
The 25-year-old is tied into a contract at Dortmund until 2017 after signing a contract extension at the start of the season.
Dortmund sit in second place in the Bundesliga with 35 points in 15 games. Gündoğan has provided five assists and scored two goals in 25 appearances for Dortmund this season.
