Man Utd news: Man City wonder-kid Enes Unal reveals Zlatan Ibrahimovic is his idol

Manchester City wonder-kid Enes Unal has had his playing style compared to Zlatan Ibrahimovic in the past but he has now revealed that the Manchester United star is his idol.

It may seem strange for a City player to have a United striker as his idol but Unal has proven he can put club loyalty aside in appreciating a talented footballer.

Unal revealed who he would most like to play alongside in an interview with the Turkish version of the FourFourTwo magazine.

The Turkish international said: “Ibrahimovic has always been my idol, he is more than a player, he is a brand and somebody I look up to. He would be the first player I would like to play alongside if I were to pick a team.”

Ibrahimovic has scored 26 goals and provided six assists in 38 games for United this season.

The Swedish striker scored the winning goal in the League Cup final against Southampton, his second trophy since joining United over the summer – the other being the Charity Shield.

Unal is currently on loan at FC Twente where he has his the ground running scoring 12 goals and providing three assists in all competitions.

The Turkish international has the record for being the youngest scorer in the Super Lig, netting against Bursaspor when he was aged 16.

The 20-year-old also holds the joint record for being the highest Turkish international goal scorer in the Eredivisie – equalling Kazim-Richards record at Feyenoord.

Unal is expected to start against Willem II in the Dutch league on Saturday 4 March.
