Fenerbahce revealed that they are on the verge of signing a new deal with Turkish international midfielder Mehmet Topal.
The club released a statement on their official website confirming that an agreement is expected to be reached over the next few days.
The statement read: “We have reached an agreement-in-principle with Mehmet Topal we expect him to officially sign over the next few days.”
Topal is currently available on a free transfer and has been closely linked with a move to the Premier League and La Liga.
The spider – as he is also known – could, still be snapped up as a free agent and Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho is keen on brining in Topal on a free transfer according to Fotospor.
United could however, face competition from Tottenham who the Fanatik claim already have an agreement-in-principle in place with Topal.
The experienced midfielder has also attracted interest from Europa League winners Sevilla reported to be in the race as well as Greek giants Olympiakos.
The 30-year-old midfielder has experience playing abroad for Valencia and has won the Turkish league title with Galatasaray and Fenerbahce.
Topal is currently on international duty with the Turkish national team for Euro 2016 in France.
