Manchester United Captain Maguire Linked with Shock Move to Turkey

In a surprising turn of events, Turkish giants Beşiktaş have reportedly opened negotiations with Manchester United captain Harry Maguire. Beşiktaş, looking to bounce back from a disappointing season, have set their sights on the England international.

Turkish newspaper Aksam report that Beşiktaş have approached Maguire about a potential transfer. The 29-year-old defender, facing recent criticism for his performances, is said to be open to leaving England for a new challenge.

Beşiktaş have reportedly offered him a two-year contract.

Maguire has been a mainstay for Manchester United, featuring in 22 Premier League games, 4 Champions League matches, 3 FA Cup ties, and 2 EFL Cup appearances this past season. He also boasts 63 caps for the English national team.

While the transfer seems unlikely at first glance, it remains to be seen if both Maguire and Beşiktaş are serious about pursuing this move.

Maguire has 12 months remaining on his contract but United do have the option to extend his deal by another season.

The Black Eagles want to rebuild their team after a disappointing season 6th inthe Super Lig, 46 points behind champions and Istanbul rivals Galatasaray.

As a result Besiktas will not be competing in European competition football next season.

The Black-Whites are embarking on a squad rebuild and hope to challenge for the league title this term having changed the board and appointing Giovanni van Bronckhorst as manager.
