Mauro Icardi Faces Race Against Time Ahead of Bayern Munich Champions League Clash

Galatasaray’s star striker Mauro Icardi is uncertain for the upcoming Champions League match against Bayern Munich after suffering an ankle injury in the derby against Beşiktaş.

Icardi was substituted late in the Beşiktaş match after receiving a blow to his right ankle. He was treated on the pitch, but the extent of his injury was not immediately clear.

The striker was the star of the show scoring a brace in the derby helping the Lions record a 2-1 victory.

Icardi also scored in the last Champions League game against Manchester United which the Yellow-Reds won 3-2.

In total Icardi has 14 goals and two assists in 15 games in all competitions this season.

On Saturday, Galatasaray announced that Icardi had suffered bleeding in the peroneal tendon in his right ankle. The club said that the 30-year-old striker would need to play with an injection to be able to play in the Bayern Munich match.

However, the final decision on whether or not Icardi will play will be made by the medical team in consultation with the technical team.

Icardi is Galatasaray’s most important player and his absence would be a major blow for the team.

Galatasaray will face Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena on Tuesday for the Champions League Match Day 3 clash.
