Mesut Ozil can learn from an unlikely Liverpool star says Arsenal legend Paul Merson

Former Arsenal playmaker Paul Merson believes Mesut Ozil could learn a thing or two from Liverpool ace James Milner.

Ozil has endured a turbulent couple months which has seen his stock lower both domestically and on the international stage.

The 29-year-old has however returned to form in recent weeks with two assists in Arsenal’s last three games. Ozil also played a key role in the Gunners 2-0 win over Everton on Sunday.

Nevertheless, Merson believes Ozil could learn from how Liverpool’s James Milner conducts himself in matches and should use him as a role model going forward.

“Every week he turns up, every week. You never see him think, nah, not today,” Merson was quoted as saying by the Express.

“I say every kid, I think Ozil should be watching him to be fair.”

Ozil is expected to be rested when the Gunners take on Brentford in the Carabao Cup this week. Arsenal’s next Premier League fixture is up against an in-form Watford FC.

Liverpool meanwhile take on Chelsea both in the League Cup and in the Premier League this week.
