Arsenal take on Cardiff City at the Emirates stadium in the Premier League on Tuesday evening hoping to return to winning ways after a 3-1 defeat against Manchester United in the FA Cup last Friday.

Mesut Ozil will start his first game for the Gunners in 2019 and has been named captain.

The latest development follows weeks of rumours questioning his future at the club and claims that he had fallen out of favor with head coach Unai Emery.

Ozil made his first appearance of the year against United in the FA Cup Fourth Round playing for just 25 minutes.

The playmaker of Turkish origin has struggled for playing time due to back and knee injuries but Emery did also contribute to rumours regarding a rift after dropping Ozil for ‘tactical reasons’ even when fit.

The Gunners will be without Sokratis and Koscielny due to injury.

Aubameyang and Lacaette join Ozil as the attacking trio while Torreira, Guendouzi and Elneny have got the nod in midfield.

The defence will be comprised of Lichtsteiner, Mustafi, Monreal and Kolasinac. Meanwhile, Leno has got the nod in goal with Petr Cech starting on the bench.
