Mesut Ozil could be ‘one of the best players in the world’ says Man Utd legend Rio Ferdinand

Arsenal transfer news: Mesut Ozil Amine Gulse

Arsenal beat Dinamo Zagreb 3-0 at the Emirates to keep their chances of booking a place in the Champions League Last 16 alive midweek.

Mesut Özil scored the opening goal of the game after being setup by Alexis Sanchez who bagged the other two goals.

Rio Ferdinand was full of praise for both players after the game but singled out Özil’s performance describing him as having the ability to become one of the best players in the world.

“Özil and Sanchez tonight were fantastic together and the if he keeps getting in the box like that and scoring it will separate him from being very good to being one of the best players in the world,” Ferdinand told BT Sport.

The World Cup winner had several efforts on target but was unable to extend his personal tally. Özil has scored three goals in total this season with the other two coming against Manchester United and Bayern Munich.

Özil does not have the most prolific goal scoring record but he has provided the most assists in the top five leagues in Europe (11) – England, France, Germany, Italy and Spain.

The Gunners must beat Olympiakos in Greece to qualify for the next round but take on Norwich City first over the weekend.
