Ozil has been locked in talks with Arsenal over a new contract deal and the Daily Star reports that he wants £300,000 which is just over double the £140,000 per-week he currently makes.
The Germany international of Turkish origin still has over a year remaining on his current deal but he may have to start showing he is worth the wages he is after.
Ozil has come under fire recently following a dip in form.
The play-maker was also heavily criticised for his display in the Gunners 5-1 defeat against Bayern Munich in the Champions League Last 16 first-leg tie in Germany.
Ozil has not scored a goal for the Gunners since 10 December 2016 and has just one assist in 2017.
The Arsenal star has a total of eight assists and has netted nine times which is his highest goal tally in a single season for the North London outfit.
The 28-year-old would be the latest star player to join the Chinese Super League if he were to end up moving.
Former Manchester United forward Carlos Tevez currently earns £615,000 per-week according to the Telegraph.
Ozil recently enjoyed a short break to Istanbul with former Miss World Turkey, Amine Gulse and is expected to resume training with Arsenal on Thursday 23 February.
