Liverpool legend Graham Souness has opted to criticize Mesut Ozil following his master class performance against Leicester City on Monday Night.

Ozil scored his sides opening goal and played a major role in the Gunners final two goals. The victory has increased Arsenal’s winning run to ten games. Unai Emery’s side sits in joint third place and are just two points behind leaders Manchester City.

Despite Ozil impressive showing, during the post-match analysis on SkySports, Souness opted to criticize Ozil.

“With the utmost respect to Leicester these are not the games that you want to be judging them on,” Souness told Monday Night Football.

“The big games that really matter, where the big players are the ones who make the difference to win you those games and I don’t think in his career that he’s done that enough times.

“His football was excellent, he’s got a football brain and technique that few people have. He does go missing in games where Arsenal don’t dominate the ball and in the big games I’d question if he’s turned up.”

Souness also managed to squeeze in a comment about Man United’s Paul Pogba while analyzing Mesut Ozil.

“I want him to turn up and be the difference when they play Man United, Liverpool, Man City or Tottenham.

“I hate to go back to it but that’s what I think of but that’s what I think about Pogba as well, I want him to be the difference in the big games.

“They have so much ability these boys that they should be.”

Ozil has now scored four goals and provided one assist in nine appearances for the north London based club. The 29-year-old is just one goal away from matching last seasons goal tally.

Arsenal are back in action on Thursday night when they travel to Portugal to take on Sporting Lisbon in the Europa League. The Gunners next Premier League fixture is against their London rivals Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.
