Mesut Ozil Hoping For First Arsenal Start Of 2019 Against Cardiff City – Team News

Arsenal take on Cardiff City at the Emirates Stadium in the Premier League hoping to return to winning ways after crashing out of the FA Cup Fourth Round against Manchester United on Thursday.

Mesut Ozil is hoping to start his first game of 2019 after making his first appearance of the year against United.

The playmaker of Turkish origin came on for the final 25 minutes against the Red Devils but failed to make much of an impact.

Ozil is match fit for tonight’s game and shared a photograph from team training on his official Instagram page.

The 30-year-old is available however, head coach Unai Emery is facing problems in defence with both Sokratis and Laurent Koscielny likely to miss out due to injury.

The Gunners are unbeaten in their last 14 games against Cardiff City.

The Bluebirds have lost their last six away games against the North London based outfit in all competitions.

The North London based outfit have been inconsistent but that is not the case at the Emirates where they have won their last five games in the Premier League – and they are unbeaten at home in their last 11 league games.
