Mesut Ozil provides star performance despite Arsenal defeat to West Brom

Mesut Özil was one of the few bright sparks for Arsenal during their 2-1 defeat at the hands of West Brom.

The 27-year-old was the ‘man of the match’ according to WhoScored. Özil provided an assist and maintained a passing accuracy of 92%.

Özil also made two key passes, two successful dribbles and one accurate cross. The Germany international also hit the post midway though the second half.

The Gunners took the lead when Ozil set up Olivier Giroud for the opener. Arsenal look set for a comfortable afternoon however the home side were ahead going into the break.

Özil broke the assist record he created against West Brom at the Hawthorns when he setup Giroud. The 27-year-old has now provided an assist in seven consecutive games which is a Premier League record.

The World Cup winner has a total of 11 assists in 12 games for the Gunners now which is the highest in Europe’s top five leagues including England, Spain, France, Italy and Germany.
