Mesut Ozil Raises Awareness For Worldwide Arsenal Fanbase After Focusing On India

Arsenal star Mesut Ozil raised awareness that the club have a worldwide fanbase on his official Instagram account after sharing a photograph of supporters from Mumbai, India.

Ozil sent Gunners fans in India a framed shirt with his name on the back.

The playmaker of Turkish origin underlined that Arsenal’s fanbase is not solely reserved to UK and Europe in his post.

Arsenal have a large following in India with several official supporter clubs across the country.

Ozil in particular is a favorite of Bollywood star Ranveer Singh who has been to the Emirates in the past and regularly posts messages of support for the playmaker.

Ozil is the most followed Arsenal player across social media channels with a combined 80 million followers – which is more than the club itself.

In fact, the 30-year-old is the most followed player in the Premier League.

Arsenal take on Rennes next in the Europa League Last 16 first-leg clash in France on Thursday. Ozil is match fit and has been training with the team ahead of the match. The playmaker is expected to make the matchday squad tonight.

Gunners boss Unai Emery will however, also have one eye on the Premier League game against 4th placed Manchester United on Sunday. A win would see them overtake the Red Devils.
