Arsenal star playmaker turned down four clubs to extend his stay in north London according to recent reports from Germany.

The 29-year-old put pen-to-paper on a three and a half year deal, putting an end to months of speculation linking him with a move away from the Emirates.

According to the German outlet SportBild, Mesut Ozil turned down interest from Manchester United, Barcelona and Paris Saint Germain to remain at Arsenal.

Per the source, Ozil also rejected an offer from Chinese side Guangzhou Evergrande which would have seen him pocket an eye-watering £22 million a year.

Ozil played the full 90 minutes during Arsenal’s 1-0 defeat at the hands of Tottenham on Saturday.

The Gunners are back in action on Thursday night in the Europa League when they take on Ostersunds FK.

Ozil has provided seven assists and scored four goals in 23 appearances in all competitions for Arsenal this season.
