Mesut Ozil has returned to Arsenal pre-season training after having a few days rest following an attempted robbery in North London.

Ozil and his Arsenal teammate Sead Kolasinac were attacked by a knife-wielding moped gang.

Kolasinac confronted the robbers before escaping with Ozil in his Mercedes SUV car.

The ordeal was not over yet as the moped gang pursued Ozil’s car in a high speed chase.

Ozil and Kolasinac ended up fleeing to a Turkish restaurant called Likya in Golders Green where the staff helped chase away with attackers.

Gunners boss Unai Emery gave both Ozil and Kolasinac some time off with their families to recover from the shock.

“Every player is very important in the team, but also each moment and some circumstances give us a decision between the players and us,” Emery told reporters.

“It’s not a good moment to play because their mind is not now 100 per cent.

“It’s a very personal circumstance and the most important thing now is that they can feel good, they can feel safe, they can feel with their family.”

Both players missed the Emirates Cup clash against Lyon and the friendly against Angers in France last week.

Ozil has however, returned to training and informed his followers on Instagram that he ‘is looking forward to the 19/20’ season.
