Germany take on Austria tonight in a warm-up friendly as they continue their preparations for the 2018 World Cup this summer.

Joachim Low’s side took a trip to Italy for their training camp and have two friendly encounters scheduled before their voyage to Russia.

Arsenal star playmaker Mesut Ozil will sit out of tonight’s clash as he continues his recovery from a back injury he picked up during the tail end of Arsenal’s season.

The 29-year-old missed Arsenal’s final games but is expected to return in time for the World Cup.

Meanwhile, Man City’s Ilkay Gundogan is available for selection tonight and is likely to start. Gundogan played a key role in Pep Guardiola’s Man City side this season and is expected to play a similar role for Germany this summer.

Star goalkeeper Manuel Neuer is nearing a recovery from an injury which kept him sidelined for the majority of the season. The 32-year-old participated in a game against the U-20’s on Monday and could start against Austria tonight.
