Mesut Ozil will not be leaving Arsenal for Fenerbahce or any other club this summer.

The Yellow Canaries have been closely linked with the playmaker of Turkish origin over recent weeks.

The transfer rumors hit overdrive following Ozil’s marriage to Amine Gulse in Istanbul last week.

Among the wedding guests was television mogul Acun Ilicali who is renowned for his close ties to Fenerbahce.

Ilicali shared an Instagram post from Ozil’s wedding with a caption which read ‘hopefully you return to your motherland this year’.

The post was interpreted as a sign that the 30-year-old could be Istanbul bound.

A source close to Fenerbahce has however, revealed to Turkish-Football that it is beyond the realms of possibility that Ozil moves to the Super Lig this summer.

The Yellow Canaries are facing financial problems and would not be able to offer Ozil the wages he is on at Arsenal.

Additionally, the club must sell players in order to buy new signings according to the terms of their FFP agreement.

Ozil and his agent Dr Erkut Sogut have meanwhile both publically stated that he will be staying at Arsenal this summer – and nothing has changed since then.

“Rumours will always persist, there is no doubt about that. But one thing I can guarantee is Mesut’s loyalty. His mind is focused on Arsenal, and Arsenal only. Mesut bleeds Arsenal red, and respecting his contract is a certainty. He’ll be staying at Arsenal until at least 2021, and the fans need not to worry about the gossip that may come this summer,” Sogut told Turkish-Football.

Ozil meanwhile told DAZN Dach. “I don’t think there’s a chance of that to be honest.

“I’ve got two more years here and what happens afterwards is not in my hands. We’ll see then, but I’m proud to be at this club and really happy at this club.”
