Mevlut Erdinc – 'I could have picked France if I was better'

Saint Etienne striker Mevlüt Erdinç revealed that he could have opted to play for France had he been a better player.

“If I was a better player if I had to chose between France and Turkey I may have made a different choice,” Erdinç was quoted as saying by Sporx.

Erdinç was born in France but opted to play for the Turkish national team at international level.

The 28-year-old has eight goals and one assist in 32 international caps for the Crescent-Stars.

The 28-year-old represented France at youth level but later switched allegiances to Turkey.

Erdinç has scored eight goals and one assist in 34 appearances for Saint-Etienne this season in all competitions.

The experienced forward joined St. Etienne on a £4 million move from Rennes in the summer of 2013.

Erdinç has previously played for PSG, Rennes and Sochaux. The Turkish international has never played for a team outside of France at club level.

The powerful striker has been closely linked with a move to Trabzonspor in the summer.
