Monchi Reveals Which Player Will Be ‘Important’ Against Liverpool To Have Back Ahead Of Clash

Roma starlet Cengiz Under returned to the team in brilliant fashion against Barcelona, providing Manolas with the assist that took the Serie A outfit through to the Champions League semi-finals.

Under had missed the first-leg tie which Roma lost 4-1 due to injury but setup Manolas with the tie winning goal in the 3-0 win at the return leg.

The Turkey international star has now scored the goal that took Roma into the quarter-finals with his away goal in the 2-1 first-leg defeat against Shakhtar.

Under has been involved in two goals in the three Champions League games he has played in his career – all for Roma.

After the draw, sporting director Monchi, who was instrumental in bringing Under to Roma, revealed how important it was to have the rising star back.

Monchi said: “For us, Cengiz will have to be important. Now he recovered from his injury and he has already been important with his assist in the game against Barcelona, and we hope he will continue working very well with us.”

Under has six goals and two assists for the Italian outfit since February, establishing himself as a key player in the Roma side.

The 20-year-old has recovered from injury and is expected to start in the Rome derby against Lazio on Sunday.

Under was brought in as a replacement for Mohamed Salah, who has been on fire at Liverpool this season.

The rising star nicknamed the new Mo Salah joined Roma for a record £12m fee paid for a Turkish international from the Super Lig.

The first-leg matches of the semifinals will be played on April 24 and 25, while the second-leg matches will be held on May 1 and 2.
