Italian coach Vincenzo Montella has officially committed his future to the Turkish national team, signing a contract extension that will keep him at the helm until June 2028. The news was confirmed this afternoon by the Turkish Football Federation (TFF) in a statement.
The new deal will be formally signed at a ceremony on Monday, June 30, at the TFF Hasan Doğan National Team training camp. TFF President Ibrahim Ethem Hacıosmanoğlu is expected to be in attendance, underscoring the federation’s confidence in the 51-year-old tactician.

Montella, who took charge in September 2023, has overseen a period of notable progress for the Crescent-Stars. Under his leadership, Turkey secured qualification for EURO 2024, where they advanced to the quarter-finals before being knocked out by the Netherlands.
His tenure has also seen success in the Nations League, with Turkey winning the play-outs against Hungary in March 2025. His overall record with the national team stands at 12 victories, four draws, and seven defeats.
This extension quashes recent speculation linking Montella with a return to Italy’s Serie A or even the vacant Italy national team job following Luciano Spalletti’s departure, a role that ultimately went to Gennaro Gattuso.
Before taking on the national team role, Montella was coaching Turkish club Adana Demirspor. His extensive coaching career also includes stints at prominent Italian clubs such as Fiorentina (on two occasions), Milan, Sampdoria, Catania, and Roma, as well as Spanish side Sevilla.
