Turkish national team manager Vincenzo Montella was full of praise for Manchester United goalkeeper Altay Bayindir after impressive displays in the 3-2 victory over Germany and the 1-1 draw versus Wales.

With first-choice goalkeeper Andre Onana’s availability in doubt due to injury, Montella is confident that Bayindir will step up and deliver for Manchester United if needed in their upcoming match against Everton.

“He did very well in our games against Germany and Wales,” said Montella. “He is a young goalkeeper and I expect and hope that he can get great experience at United.

“I hope he can play first-team football which will give him even more experience and then he’ll be even better when he comes back to us.”

The former Inter Milan ace was forced off in the latter stages of Cameroon’s 3-0 win over Mauritius last Friday and, as a result, was forced to pull out of the squad, missing Tuesday’s 1-1 draw with Libya. United are yet to provide comment on the severity of his injury.9

Bayindir, who joined United from Fenerbahce in the summer transfer window has yet to make an appearance for the club.

However, he has continued to be selected for international duty and has demonstrated his abilities during his recent appearances for Turkiye.

If Onana is unable to play this weekend, Bayindir is expected to make his United debut at Goodison Park. Montella’s faith in Bayindir’s capabilities is evident, and the Turkish goalkeeper is ready to prove his worth on the big stage.

Even if Bayindir does not make his debut he is expected to get playing time in the new year as Onana is expected to join Cameroon for the Africa Cup of Nations Cup.
