Mourinho Booked 20 mins into Fenerbahce Debut, Targets Super Lig Title

Jose Mourinho made a fiery start to life in the Turkish Super Lig, being booked just 20 minutes into his first league game in charge of Fenerbahce.

The Portuguese manager, renowned for his passionate touchline demeanor, couldn’t contain his frustrations during his side’s clash with Adana Demirspor.

A series of contentious decisions from the referee led to a heated exchange, resulting in Mourinho being shown a yellow card.

Despite the early setback, Fenerbahce managed to secure a 1-0 victory thanks to a goal from Edin Dzeko.

Mourinho made it clear after the game that he plans to win the Super Lig this season.

“We know we are one of the strongest teams in the league,” Mourinho said.

“We know our objective this season is not to win the Champions League but to win the Super Lig.”

“I’ve never lost my first match in [charge of] a club.

“I’ve never lost my first league match. So for 24 years nothing has changed so that is the positive thing of this result. The two seasons where I started a league game with a draw, I won the Champions League so if we had got a draw that would also have been a good thing. Jokes aside, it was very important to win the match.”

Mourinho will now turn his attention to the Champions League, where his side face Lille in the final qualifying round.

Fenerbahce lost the first leg against Lille 2-1 deficit and will need a win in the third-round qualifying opener to have a chance to play in the Champions League.

“We want to try and do all we can on Tuesday,” he said. “The team is far from being in good shape. We’ve been here with these players for two weeks. We need time for everything.”

The fiery manager’s reputation for intense involvement in matches remains undiminished, as he continues to make headlines both on and off the pitch.
