Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has revealed that players he wants to get rid of over the summer will not play during the pre-season period.

Mourinho’s comments signal that the likes of Bastian Schweinsteiger and Adnan Januzaj, who did not feature against Istanbul giants Galatasaray yesterday could be on their way out.

Speaking to MUTV after the 5-2 win over the Lions in Sweden, the United boss was asked about which players were in his plans next season.

Mourinho replied: “Well, if they were not in my plans, I would not give them one single minute. I wouldn’t keep them in my squad.”

Schweinsteiger was not been included in the 23-man squad that took on Galatasaray over the weekend.

The 31-year-old is expected to leave over the summer and the arrival of Paul Pogba could officially mark the end of his time at Old Trafford.

The Express report that Besiktas are keen to snap up the experienced midfielder in a bid to strengthen their squad going into the Champions League group stage.

Besiktas could however, struggle to match his current wages unless the 31-year-old were to accept a pay cut next season.

The Black Eagles are currently under FFP investigation and have to keep within the guidelines to avoid a European competition ban.
