New Manchester City star on the road to recovery 

Ilkay Gundogan Man City

Manchester City’s latest transfer Ilkay Gundogan is stepping up his recovery form a knee injury he sustained while at Borussia Dortmund.

The 25-year-old will miss the start of the the Premier League campaign after dislocating his kneecap during a training session last month.

Gundogan was keen to keep his social media followers up to date with his progress. The midfield playmaker uploaded a picture of himself along with the caption, “Good morning! On my way to rehab!”

Gundogan was born in Germany but is part of the large Turkish community which numbers 3-4 million. The 24-year-old’s family originate from the Afyon province in Western Turkey.

The 25-year-old arrived in Manchester on crutches and understood to still be some way off making a full recovery. The former Dortmund man was recently spotted house-hunting with his parents in Manchester.

Gundogan provided seven assists and scored three goals in 40 appearances for Borussia Dortmund last season.
