Newcastle & Crystal Palace send scouts Ozyakup but discover another star instead at Champions League clash

Newcastle & Crystal Palace officials impressed by Champions League star Tolgay Arslan

Newcastle United, Crystal Palace and Tottenham have been closely linked with several Besiktas players over the past few months.

A source close to Besiktas revealed to Turkish-Football that all three clubs sent scouts to the latest Champions League clash against Monaco which ended in a 1-1 draw at the Vodafone Arena.

The Hurriyet newspaper are reporting that the scouts were there to watch Cenk Tosun – who scored – and Oguzhan Ozyakup.

Per the source, the scouts ended up being impressed by Tolgay Arslan who was not on their shortlist.

All three sides are expected to monitor Arslan closely and a January bid could be on the cards.

Like Tosun, Arslan was also born in Germany making him eligible to play in the Premier League without a work permit.
