Newcastle & Everton Maintain Hope in Pursuit of Can Uzun

Newcastle United and Everton could still have a chance to sign Nurnberg’s promising prospect Can Uzun, despite the 18-year-old’s talks with Eintracht Frankfurt according to the The Shields Gazette.

Uzun, a versatile forward, has excelled for the Bundesliga II side this season, contributing 14 goals and 3 assists in 22 appearances. His performances have attracted attention across Europe.

While Eintracht Frankfurt appears to have an advantage in negotiations, Uzun confirmed discussions with them but emphasized that he has not made a final decision on his future.

“There have been discussions with Frankfurt, that’s true. But nothing has happened yet, neither with Frankfurt nor elsewhere. I will make it from my heart. Nobody else really has any influence on it,” Uzun told Bild.

This leaves the door open for Newcastle, who have reportedly scouted the player.

Uzun has attracted the attention of both the German and Turkish Football Federations (DFB and TFF) who both want him to represent their respective national teams.

The young forward has the option to play for both countries, Uzun has already represented Turkiye at U17 and U18 level.

Uzun is a friend of Kenan Yildiz who also had the option of playing for Germany or Turkiye; he picked the Turkish national team.
