Newcastle prepared to make Arsenal star new No 9 but face competition from Turkish giants who are in talks with striker

Newcastle United are eyeing a move for Arsenal striker Lucas Perez according to reports in England.

The Sun claim that the Magpies are prepared to make Perez their new No 9.

Per the source, Newcastle are growing desperate for a new forward and the Spanish striker has become an attractive option.

Perez is reportedly desperate to leave Arsenal this summer.

Newcastle will face competition from Istanbul giants Fenerbahce who have been in talks with the 28-year-old.

The striker’s agent Rodrigo Fernandez Lovelle recently told told AS that Fenerbahce are interested in his client but that Arsenal want around €12 million for his signature: “The truth is that the Turkish club has been interested in the signing of Lucas Perez for two months, I do not think it is very difficult to do, but Arsenal will not let it go. Have the assignment of Perez.

“Several clubs in Europe are interested in Lucas, but Arsenal want to make up part of the money that paid Deportivo the Coruña last summer, the club has paid 21 million euros for Lucas, and I think he is willing to accept a figure of around 12 million euros for his departure,” he added.

Perez openly stated that he wants to leave the North London club after Arsene Wenger gave his shirt number to summer signing Alexandre Lacazette.

Spanish website La Voz De Galicia quote Perez as telling them: “They [Arsenal] are not behaving well with me.

“The thing of taking the shirt number without telling me to give it to a companion. It seems to me the last straw.

“I can not continue this way. I have given everything, but that has not been reciprocated, so I can’t stand it any longer.

“I feel cheated. In February I was not allowed to leave for China with the promise that I would play more and after that I had even fewer opportunities.

“But the shirt number is an ugly gesture. On the trip, Lacazette asked the boss and he accepted. Afterwards, he told me.

“Last year he [Wenger] told me that he understood that I was upset. I think this season things will get worse, so help me out.”

Perez joined the Gunners last season on a £17 million move from Deportivo but struggled for playing time.

The Spanish striker scored seven times and provided five assists in 21 games for the Gunners in all competitions last season.
