Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe has dismissed rumors linking Kieran Trippier with a move to Turkish club Eyüpspor.

The 33-year-old full-back has been the subject of transfer speculation in recent weeks, with reports suggesting he could leave Newcastle. However, Howe has reiterated his desire to keep Trippier at the club.

“Yeah, I absolutely want Kieran here. That hasn’t changed and that won’t change. I woke up to the stories via a few messages as you do so it’s the first I’ve heard of it.,” Howe said.

Trippier has been an important player for Newcastle since joining the club from Atlético Madrid in 2022. He has been a consistent performer and has played a key role in the club’s recent success.

While Trippier has faced competition for playing time from Tino Livramento, Howe has emphasized that he remains a valued member of the squad. The manager praised Trippier’s professionalism and training ethic.

“The situation is business as usual,” Howe added. “Tripps has trained really well this week. I’m surprised at a lot of the stories that have come out. He’s a valuable member of the squad. His professionalism has been first class. He’s trained really well since he’s come back from the Euros.

“He’s only had two weeks training, hence the decision to not start him at the weekend and Tino has had a very good pre-season. That’s the situation. He continues to be really valued by all of us.”

With the transfer window closed in England, it remains to be seen if any further developments will occur regarding Trippier’s future. However, Howe’s comments suggest that the defender is likely to stay at Newcastle United for the foreseeable future.
