Turkish-Football recently reported that the Magpies had two bids for the Cape Verde international rejected in January. Rodriquez is however understood to be available for €15 million this summer.

Former Galatasaray assistant manager Ayhan Akman has endorsed Newcastle’s pursuit of the Dutch-born winger. Akman previously Galatasaray’s assistant manager before Fatih Terim was appointed and was at the club when Rodrigues was signed.

“He’s an athletic football player. The Premier League may suit him more [Than the Turkish League] as there will be more space for him to exploit,” Akman told the Turkish outlet Fanatik.

“However, he still needs to work on his game and improve. There are still problems with his end product.”
