Newcastle United transfer news: Scouts watch €20m international winger put on star performance – January bid rejected

Newcastle United scouts were present during Galatasaray’s win over Bursaspor in the Turkish Super Lig.

The Lions registered a 5-0 win over the Crocodiles at the Turk Telekom Stadium on Friday night.

A source close to the Istanbul giants has confirmed to Turkish-Football.com that Newcastle United sent officials to scout Rodrigues.

The Cape Verde international put on a show for watching scouts after scoring his sides second goal and providing two assists on the night.

Newcastle United have been closely linked with a move for the winger this season. The Magpies have already had a bid for the Cape Verde international rejected over the January transfer window.

Galatasaray recently sold their star midfielder Badou Ndiaye to Stoke City for €16 million.

Newcastle would be able to sign Rodrigues for €20 million according to reports in Turkey.

Rodrigues has scored six goals and provided nine assists in all competitions for Galatasaray so far this season. The Lions are back in action tomorrow when they take on Akhisar in the Turkish Cup.

Meanwhile, Newcastle continues their preparations for this weekend’s trip to Anfield to face an in-form Liverpool.
