Okan Buruk Officially Appointed Basaksehir Manager

Okan Buruk has been appointed manager of Basaksehir replacing Abdullah Avci as head coach of the Super Lig outfit.

The Istanbul based side confirmed Buruk as their new head coach in a statement released on their official website.

Basaksehir released the following statement on the official club website: “We have agreed terms with Okan Buruk.”

Buruk will be unveiled in a signing ceremony with club president Goksel Gumusdag tomorrow at 11:00 (local time) at the Fatih Terim Stadium.

The 45-year-old manager is highly rated in Turkey after leading Akhisar to their first Turkish Cup trophy back in 2018.

Buruk also impressed at Rizespor this season guiding the Black Sea based side to a 10th placed finish.

Basaksehir finished last season as runners-up finishing second to Galatasaray.

The Istanbul based side remained in the title race until the penultimate match of the season against the eventual champions Galatasaray who ended up winning the clash.
