Okan Buruk Replaces Abdullah Avci As Basaksehir Manager

Basaksehir have appointed Okan Buruk as manager replacing Abdullah Avci who parted ways with the club last week to join Besiktas.

The Istanbul based side confirmed Buruk as their new head coach in a statement released on their official website.

The official paperwork will be signed on 10 June following the end of the Eid festival which lasts for one week in Turkey.

The 45-year-old manager is rated one of the most promising coaches in Turkish football.

Buruk guided Akhisar to their first Turkish Cup trophy over the 2017-18 season.

The impressed at Rizespor this season securing a 10th placed finish for the Black Sea based side.

Basaksehir finished the league campaign as runners-up narrowly missing out on their first league title to Galatasaray.

The title race was neck and neck until the penultimate game of the season between the Lions and Basaksehir.

Galatasaray ended up winning the game to win the championship but Basaksehir will play Champions League football next season.
