‘Only team been capable of beating us’ – Man City issues warning ahead of Champions League clash with Liverpool

Manchester City star playmaker Ilkay Gundogan has issued a warning ahead of the midweek UEFA Champions League clash.

The Citizens face an in-form Liverpool at Anfield on Wednesday evening, kick-off is scheduled for 19:45 (GMT).

Gundogan believes Liverpool are the only Premier League side capable of beating Man City and stated that his side have learned lessons from the mistakes made on their previous visit to Anfield.

Pep Guardiola’s side suffered a 4-3 loss at the hands of Liverpool in their only league defeat so far this season. The Reds front three – Mane, Salah and Firmino – all played starring roles on the day.

However, Gundogan claimed that his side are prepared for whatever Liverpool throw at them.

“Liverpool are still the only team that’s been capable of beating us in the Premier League,” Gundogan was quoted as saying by Reuters.

“But we’re aware why this happened, although we performed pretty well that day.

“I think we’re aware of our strengths and we know what we’re capable of. We want to prove that in both games, of course.

“We’d like to get a great result in the first leg and then dominate the game in the second leg, in front of our fans.”

Gundogan came on in the second half during Man City’s comfortable 3-1 win over Everton on Sunday afternoon. The Citizens can lift the Premier League title at the Etihad this weekend when they host their bitter rivals Manchester United.
