The Oxford Union has been the scene of controversy amongst Arsenal fans over the past week.

Gunners right-back Hector Bellerin took aim at the popular fan platform Arsenal Fan TV during his appearance at the prestigious University.

“I think it’s so wrong for someone that claims to be a fan and their success is fed of a failure, so how can that be a fan? So i think they’re just people hustling, trying to make money their way,” Bellerin responded when asked about Arsenal Fan TV.

Bellerin also doubled down on his statement on the popular social media platform Twitter

Following Bellerin’s controversial showing at the Oxford Union, all eyes were on Mesut Ozil who was also due to make an appearance.

Ozil was supposed to attend the event this week, however, it has been cancelled. The decision left many fans wondering if the Germany international cancelled his appearance because of Bellerin.

However, Ozil had already cancelled his Oxford Union appearance last week, before the whole Bellerin situation gained attention.

Oxford sent out an email stating that the scheduled appearance of Mesut Ozil for 20 February, had been cancelled for “reasons beyond our control”.

It is unknown whether Ozil will reschedule his appearance at the university.
