Mesut Ozil was closely linked with a move to Manchester United over the winter transfer window before extending his Arsenal contract.
Ozil ended up staying at Arsenal, extending his contract until 2021, becoming the highest paid player in club history at £350,000 a-week.
The playmaker of Turkish origin will stay at Arsenal for the foreseeable future.
The 29-year-old showed his loyalty to Arsenal in staying on at the club during a tumultuous period that saw former star man Alexis Sanchez join United.
Ozil has revealed which club he will join in the future – and it is not United.
The 2014 World Cup winner reportedly promised his mother that Fenerbahce will be his next club.
According to Sporx Ozil said: “When my contract ends I promised my mother I will play for Fenerbahce.”
Ozil will be in his early thirties once his current Arsenal deal ends.
The Germany international has flirted with the idea of playing for the Yellow Canaries in the past.
“Everyone knows I am a Fenerbahçe fan,” Ozil told the Turkish outlet Sabah.
Ozil was born to Turkish parents is engaged to former Miss Turkey Amine Gulse.
Gulse and Ozil were in Istanbul over the weekend celebrating his new Arsenal deal.
