“Pep said it would be nearly impossible” – Man City star issues response to 4-3 defeat to Liverpool

Manchester City star playmaker Ilkay Gundogan has responded to his side’s defeat at the hands of Liverpool.

The Reds pulled off the surprise of the week registered a 4-3 win over City on Sunday night.

Pep Guardiola’s side suffered their first defeat of the season but remain 15 points ahead of second-placed Man United.

Gundogan played the full 90 minutes for the Citizens and scored his sides third goal late in the second half.

The Germany international revealed that he and his teammates are disappointed, however, that they have already switched their focus towards the next fixture.

“We are very disappointed but we have to accept it, keep our focus and look forward to our next game,” Ilkay Gundogan told Manchester City’s official wesbite.

“It continues and we won’t stop.

“The title race is still in our own hands and we are still in a comfortable position but we need to learn from today.

“We need to learn from those 10 minutes when we conceded three goals and look to keep on improving.

“Pep said it would be nearly impossible to go all season without losing. We are disappointed but now we must look ahead.”

City take on Newcastle United in their next Premier League encounter on January 20.

Liverpool meanwhile moved up into joint second spot following their win over the Citizens.

Man Chester United can cut City’s lead down to 12 points tonight if they defeat Stoke City tonight.
