Ilkay Gundogan has taken to social media to respond to the controversy surrounding his meeting with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan last week.

The Man City midfielder was criticised by German politicians who accused Gundogan of endorsing the Turkish President ahead of the upcoming elections.

However, Gundogan has subsequently met with German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier and took to social media to state that he no longer wants to talk about politics and instead wants to focus on playing football.

Gundogan is expected to travel with the Germany national team to Russia for the 2018 World Cup.
