Manchester City midfield playmaker Ilkay Gundogan has broken his silence following Germany’s exit from the 2018 World Cup.

Ilkay Gundogan only made one appearance during Germany’s World Cup campaign. The 27-year-old came on as a substitute during Germany’s 2-1 win over Sweden.

The Man City star took to social media earlier today to issue his reaction to Germany’s exit.

Gundgogan expressed his disappointment but maintain that he is proud to have represented Germany in the World Cup.

“We are all still so disappointed. We had big plans, but we failed,” Gundogan stated on Instagram.

“I’m proud to have played for the 1st time for Germany at a World Cup, but to exit in the group stage is nothing but frustrating.

“We have to get up again for the challenges after the summer break – and we will.”
