Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has announced he will be stepping down from his position at the end of the season.

Wenger will end his 22-year reign as manager of the club.

The French manager was responsible for signing Mesut Ozil on a then record £42.5 million transfer from Real Madrid in 2013.

Ozil sent a heartfelt message to Wenger on his official Instagram account.

The playmaker of Turkish origin thanks Wenger for what he has done for Arsenal, the world of football in general and for himself as a player.

Wenger has the chance to go out with a bang if Arsenal win the Europa League this season.

The Gunners will take on Atletico Madrid in the semi-final first-leg tie on Thursday.
