Manchester City playmaker Ilkay Gundogan made his first appearance in over ten months on Saturday.

The 26-year-old has been sidelined since suffering a knee injury back in December.

Gundogan came on in place of Kevin de Bruyne in the 66th minute during City’s 6-0 victory over Watford.

Gundogan took to social media to express his delight at returning to action for the Citizens. The Germany international also thanked his teammates and fans for their support while he was injured.

“Such a special day for me!  My first appearance on the pitch in so long and it simply felt amazing,” Gundogan stated on his Instagram page.

“I had a good feeling when I came on right away which was really important to get control and good touches. Sure I am not at 100% yet due to the lack of game time this year, but the team made it easy for me to slip in and just play.

“A fantastic win, a great performance all around and so much fun! Thanks to everyone for supporting me in the past and of course for all the kind messages I received just now.

“It is much appreciated! Can’t wait to play more and give everything to make an impact for this fantastic team!”
