Man City star Ilkay Gundogan has taken a short timeout from his rehabilitation with a trip to Germany.

The 26-year-old midfielder spent the weekend with his family back home in Köln.

Gundogan is currently sidelined with a knee injury he suffered back in December. The former Borussia Dortmund star will miss the remainder of the season.

Man City shelled out £20 million (BBC) to bring Gundogan to the Premier League from Dortmund.

The Germany international shared a photo of himself on his official Instagram account and included the following caption, “Germany: Had a great weekend with family and friends.

“Who knows in which city I am?”
