‘Playing Like He Ate 6 Kebabs Pre Match’ – Man City fans react to star midfielder who made first Premier League start of the season against Southampton
Manchester City beat Southampton 2-1 at the Etihad Stadium thanks to a last gasp goal from Raheem Sterling in the sixth minute of additional time.
The victory means City are now just one short of Arsenal and Chelsea’s shared record of 13 consecutive wins in a single season.
A win at home against West Ham on Sunday will match the record but they will have to beat rivals Manchester United at Old Trafford in they want to make history the following week.
It was also the first time Ilkay Gundogan has started a Premier League game this season.
The midfielder of Turkish origin has been eased back into the team after recovering from a lengthy knee injury in September.
We took a look at how City fans reacted on social media to Gundogan making his first start.

Not everyone was too impressed with Gundogan’s performance.
Gundogan was sadly invisible last night. Hopefully he can get up to pace eventually. Still only cost 25m

Is it a case of simply finding his feet after a long time out on the sidelines.
Gündogan is good. But he’s a long long long way off becoming a first teamer in this side. Keeps it too simple at times.

Gundogan is absolutely World Class (when fit).
This is my day to be jealous……I wish I could attend games at the Etihad Stadium.
WELL, I will be doing the Poznan and making noise from my Armchair here in Jamaica.
Come on SHARKS.
