Lukas Podolski showed off his new-found Turkish language skills on Instagram the other day asking Mesut Ozil for confidence.
Podolski has spent the last season at Turkish giants Galatasaray and has done a great job settling in adapting to the local culture and learning the language.
Ozil is one of the two Germany international players of Turkish origin in the side – the other being Liverpool midfielder Emre Can – and he is fluent in his mother tongue.
Podolski shared a picture training with Ozil alongside the caption: “Abi gazver.”
Abi is Turkish for brother and ‘gaz ver’ is a slang term used for giving somebody confidence so that they are ‘gassed up’.
Podolski is one of two Germany international players that currently play in the Super Lig with the other being Besiktas star Mario Gomez.
Gomez made his first appearance for Germany in Euro 2016 against Poland yesterday but Podolski has yet to feature for his national team in the tournament.
