PSG Join Race For Arsenal Defensive Transfer Target

Parisian Pursuit: PSG Emerges as Potential Sacha Boey Landing Spot Amid Arsenal Interest

Galatasaray’s young French fullback, Sacha Boey, has attracted the attention of Parisian giants Paris Saint-Germain, according to transfer guru Jonathan Johnson writing for Caught Offside.

Boey, 23, has already caught the eye of Premier League heavyweights Arsenal and Manchester United.

Turkish-Football reported this week that Galatasaray are open to a potential Arsenal move but only at the end of the season.

While a move to PSG isn’t imminent, Johnson believes it’s a realistic possibility this January. The Ligue 1 powerhouse’s interest coincides with their ambition to recruit Parisian talents, and Boey’s skillset seems perfect for their attacking brand of football.

PSG have been focusing on players from the Paris region and Boey ticks that box, he also has experience playing in France having joined Galatasaray from Rennes.

“Sacha Boey has been on the radar of a number of clubs for some time, he’s on the list of clubs in the Premier League and other top leagues in Europe. The latest is that PSG have been looking at him and I think he looks like a good solution for them amid doubts over Nordi Mukiele’s future, albeit more as an option on the right-hand side of defence than in the centre,” Johnson said.

“I’m not sure if Boey ticks all the boxes for what PSG need at the moment, but perhaps it will be that they go for him and a second player. At the same time, he is one of the names who’ll be towards the top of the list of talents available in that position, and PSG like to have two quality players in each position – they’ll look to acquire that sort of talent, especially a French-born talent like Boey if at all possible.

“While things don’t look to be concrete or advanced at the moment, it wouldn’t surprise me to see PSG make a move for Boey. Don’t forget as well that he’s from the Paris region and that’s another important quality they tend to look for. He’s had a good footballing education Rennes and he’s really burst onto the scene at Galatasaray now.

“Let’s see if PSG try something, though there’s certainly a risk as January goes on that they might let players like Mukiele go without having secured a replacement. There might be a late flurry of activity, but it just depends on what PSG get firmed up before they make decisions on who comes in and who leaves.”

Though Arsenal and Manchester United remain keen, the allure of PSG’s project and the chance to shine in his native France could tip the scales for Boey. The Premier League would undoubtedly welcome his talent, but the Parisian dream might prove too tempting to resist.

Boey is a key player at Galatasaray and under contract until 2025, it would take a major offer for the Turkish giants to part ways in January but they are open to an end of season exit.

The 23-year-old has been a star player for the Lions over the past two seasons playing an integral role in the Super Lig championship last term and also impressed in the Champions League group stage this season.

Boey has two goals in 30 games in all appearances this season.
